“The Marienberg Fortress is the landmark of Würzburg and sits ‘enthroned’ and visible over the city. From 1201 until the relocation to the Residence, the fort was the headquarters of the Würzburg Prince-Bishops. Traces of human settlement were found here during excavations, dating back to the Hallstatt era (around 1000 B.C.).” You don’t necessarily need to book a tour to explore the fortress grounds (open 24/7) and enjoy the beautiful view over the city. If you’re in for a little history and art though, you can visit the Mainfränkisches Museum and/or the Fürstenbaumuseum with the Department of City History.

13. STRAMU WÜRZBURG (International Street Music Festival)
@ Altstadt Pedestrian Zone; Info points are located @ Oberer Markt & Alter Kranen

“The STRAMU festival is one of the biggest festivals for street music and street art in Europe. Every year in September, artist from all around the world meet up in our beautiful city to perform their shows of music, dance, juggling, theater, artistry and much more. Renowned international street artists perform right next to regional musicians as well as up and coming artists. The whole pedestrian zone is turning into one big stage for an entire weekend!” You can find an overwiev of all artists performing here.

Program & city maps:
- FRIDAY

- SATURDAY

- SUNDAY

Since all artists are playing without a fixed fee, the festivals’ busking motto is “if you enjoy – put a little something in the hat!” So don’t forget to bring a little pocket change. If you’d like to support the festival team (and get a cool souvenir!), we’d recommend getting yourself a STRAMU wristband
or one of their hipster-proof Jutes. Throughout the festival you’re welcome to take a break at the “Diestelhäuser Pub Garden” at Unterer Markt, where you can put up your feet and get some drinks. Also: feel free to bring your own food!

·         FRIDAY 09.09.

Kult-Freitag (drinks/party)
@ Nachtwächter; 8pm
The Nachtwächter is said to be Würzburg’s oldest student pub and thus enjoys a bit of cult status in the local bar scene. Seats at the bar are not guaranteed, but a fun evening sure is!

Powder for Pigeons & Fuddge (Blues Rock, Stoner/Psychadelic Rock)
@ Immerhin; 9pm
The Immerhin definitely is one of our fave places to see live shows. You can listen to POWDER FOR PIGEONS here
and to FUDDGE here to get an idea of what this Friday will sound like.

Hip Hop Friday (clubbing)
Old School, New School, R’n’B, Rap, Trap, Black Music, you name it: Würzburg’s club scene is all about Hip Hop this Friday.
- “Alte Schule” @ Club Ludiwg; 11pm
- “Hip Hop Special” @ Das Boot; 10pm
- “This Iz Hip Hop” @ Zauberberg; 10pm
- “We.Love.Friday” @ Studio; 10:30pm

·         SATURDAY 10.09.

Mainviertel Flohmarkt (flea-market)
@ LGA Parkplatz (Dreikronenstraße 31); 8am-4pm
“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Jumble sale! Granted, there will be a lot of junk to go through, but maybe you’ll find that thing you’ve always wanted? Since it’s always a good idea to come early to flea markets, we’d recommend going for a nice breakfast/brunch afterwards – try Café Neubau, Wunschlos Glücklich, or the Uni Café for example.

Altstadtrundgang (public city tour)
@ Falkenhaus; 11am; 7 EUR
In case you missed our Babelfish City Tour on Tuesday, you can catch up with one of the city’s guided walking tours through the Old Town. It’s recommended to reserve a spot in advance, check out their website linked above for details.
