Still looking for things to do in Würzburg this week? We leafed through the local event calendars and put together a short list of suggestions for you:
- MONDAY: Brauhaus / Club Katze (party)
@ Brauhaus; student’s night / @ Club Katze; 4 EUR
One of the classic combos for partying on Mondays (yes, that’s a thing here) is staring off at Brauhaus for pre-partying with a few pints and then dancing the night away at Club Katze. A lot of Würzburg’s students are still away on semester break at the moment, so there’s a good chance it won’t be overly crowded this Monday.
- TUESDAY: Herakles in Neuseeland (art exhibition)
@ Martin von Wagner Museum
Got your sightseeing tour all planned out yet? Why not make a stop at the Martin von Wagner Museum right inside the Würzburg Residence to check out the current special exhibit “Herakles in Neuseeland”? In her work, the artist Marian Maguire deals with historical and contemporary questions of intercultural encounters by cleverly placing the Greek hero Heracles into New Zealand settings.
- WEDNESDAY: Concierto Flamengo (XIV. Flamenco Festival Würzburg)
@ Mainfranken Theater; 8pm
Antonio Rey’s “Concierto Flamengo” kicks off the annual Würzburg Flamenco Festival, the only one of its kind in Southern Germany. You can check out which seats are still available for the opening show here.
- THURSDAY: Abi Shek – Holzschnitte und Zeichnungen (art exhibition)
@ Kunstschiff Arte Noha
Old freight barge turned showroom, the Arte Noha is a small but very cool gallery definitely worth a visit. The current exhibition shows wood cuts and drawings by Abi Shek who has a thing for animal silhouettes and telling stories the minimalistic way. (See a preview of his work here.)
- FRIDAY: Eisbahndisco (ice skating)
@ Nautiland; 6-10pm; 4 EUR
Not tired of winter yet? Check out the ice skating rink at Nautiland, its disco time this Friday! Rent some skates and get your groove on!
- SATURDAY: 52 Hertz & Landlines (pop punk / punk rock)
@ Immerhin; 9pm
This Saturday two young bands are playing at the Immerhin to prove that punk’s not dead – the emo three piece “Hertz 52” form Würzburg/Bad Neustadt and the Dutch-German pun rock trio “Landlines”.
- SUNDAY: Fashion-Flohmarkt (indoor flea market)
@ Posthalle; 2-6pm; 2 EUR
Sundays definitely are for flea markets! This week the “Fashion-Flohmarkt” at Posthalle saves us from freezing outside while thrifting for second hand treasures. Clothes, shoes, accessories – cake and coffee!
- ALL WEEK: Würzburger Frühjahrsvolksfest (Spring Fun Fair 05.03.-20.03)
@ Talavera; Mo-Thu 2pm-11pm, Fr-Sa 2pm-midnight, So noon-10:30pm
Rollercoasters, cotton candy, beer tent! Need we say more?
