The Martin von Wagner Museum has put together a truly special special exhibition, showing a collection of digitally replicated reliefs from king Sennacherib's (Assyria, 705-681 BC) Nineveh “Palace Without Revival”. The originals are said to have been destroyed by supporters of the so-called Islamic State (IS) in 2015.

Traditionally, Silvester (NYE) ist celebrated with huge fireworks to greet the new year at midnight! Festung Marienberg and the vineyards at the Steinburg provide a great view, the bridges crossing the Main are popular spots to see the fireworks as well (Friedensbrücke, Brücke der Deutschen Einheit), and so is the Riverwalk (e.g. at Alter Kranen). Please keep in mind that the area around the Marktplatz and Vierröhrenbrunnen is limited access and the Alte Mainbrücke usually is closed for safety reasons.
We’ve put together a list of NYE parties below; in case you’re not in the mood for clubbing we’d recommend just strolling down Sanderstraße and / or Juliuspromenade for a bit of a pub crawl. Also: You’re very welcome to stay in and celebrate the new year at the Babelfish! :)
